ZENONIA 2_Game

Zenonia 2 tells of four young adventurers who are chosen to embark on a dangerous mission to revive the tree of memories. You select one of these heroes to play as: a paladin, a melee fighter, a mage, and a sharpshooter. Each has a unique personality, style of play, and minor plot differences. They also have equipment sets exclusive to their class. For our review playthrough, we chose to play as Ecne, a chick who handles big guns.

One thing holding back the first Zenonia was its unbalanced difficulty, which hindered the flow of the game's progression. In the sequel, Gamevil has worked out the kinks. There is no longer any need to stop completing quests to grind a few levels or rack up some money. Provided you don’t sneak past all the enemies in the game, you should always be ready for the road ahead without straying from the quest line.

The Gem Miner: Dig Deeper Android App by Phil Symonds is a game for the Android. There are 3 levels of difficulty Easy, Medium and Hard. Once you select your level of difficulty you will be asked if you want to take the tutorial. The tutorial tells you the object of the game which is to gather as many precious ores and gems as you can and sell them in the shop.

To get to the mines you need to go to the elevator to get down there and dig to gather the precious ores and gems. Your mine cart hold supplies that you will need to make sure that you do not get stuck down there and that you can get back out of there. For example, if you come across weak ground you will need to use a support and if you dig downward you will need to use your ladders in order to get back out. Once you reach the surface again all you need to do is walk by the general store and you will automatically sell all of your precious ores and gems that you have gathered. You can also go inside the store to purchase more supplies.

The graphics for this game are pretty well done and clean. The controls are pretty easy to use, simply press the screen in front of the miner in the direction that you want him to go. Some tips for playing this game are to watch your stamina bar, make sure that you have enough supplies such as supports and make sure that when you dig downward that you have enough ladders to get your miner get back out.

Doodle Jump

This cute little platform jumper is oozing with charm! There are some games that just make you smile when you play them. Doodle Jump is one such game. I met the developer (who works on games with his brother) at the iGames Summit, and I’m glad I did! Not every game I saw at this conference was good, but Doodle Jump is the one I turned to when the lecture got a little boring!

The object is very similar to other jumping/endurance games: get as high as you can by jumping on platforms as you avoid obstacles. Your little “doodle” character automatically keeps jumping when he hits a platform, and you tilt the phone to move left or right.

Fruit Ninja

Half Brick Studios just released a simple but challenging casual game called Fruit Ninja.

The game is a simple affair that has you swiping at the screen to dismember pieces of fruit that are lobbed in your general direction.

It's a bit of a shooting-gallery type experience but one you are swiping to slice rather than tapping to shoot. You're only allowed to miss 3 pieces of fruit before it's game over — but beware, slicing a single bomb (thrown up randomly) will result in an instant game over.

In fact, it's so simple, that it's hard to explain the appeal. The overall game is put together quite well, and the swipe mechanism is strangely satisfying. The biggest feature for the game, however, is the quick ramp up in difficulty. It doesn't take long before you are anxiously awaiting the next volley of fruit since it takes a quick reaction time to keep playing.

Robo Defense

If you’ve ever played a tower defense game, you already know the basics of Robo Defense. Enemies move in waves from an entrance to an exit, and you have to set up various towers to stop them. Like most tower defense games, Robo Defense offers a wide variety of towers, each of which comes with upgrade options. Each type of tower works well against a different type of enemy. If you’re facing fast-moving enemies, set up some freeze towers to slow them down. If you’re up against flying enemies, set up some anti-air towers, and so on.

Robo Defense also includes the same set of maps you’d expect in any competent tower defense game. There’s a basic map where the enemies enter on the left hand side, and exit on the right hand side, with no obstacles in their way. a map called The Ruins where enemies can come from any number of entrances, and make their way to any of the exits on the map, and a VR map where you can dictate how many entrances, exits, and obstacles the map will have.

If you're anything like me (and I assume you are, since you too own an Android device), waking up in the morning is often an unpleasant experience. The loud, abrupt sound of an alarm going off may do well to get you to work on time, but it is often at the expense of feeling refreshed and ready for the day.
